Poonam Cham:
Previous work regarding liminality needs to be posted onto the blog as soon as possible, as well as ensuring any other outstanding work is also posted. Following this, begin looking at Michel Foucault and his theory of the Panopticon, as this was mentioned in a previous lecture. Attempt to determine the concepts relevance to the research project.

Discussion:
The main discussion that took place during this meeting was with relation to the Q&A session that took place with Martyn and Spencer earlier that day. As some members were not present at the session and Justina, Ryan and Aivarus acted as a representative sample of the group, they relayed the information from that session back to the rest of the group.

2) Following the feedback from the Q&A session and the individual consultation that followed, a plan of action was then constructed for the following weeks and preliminary deadlines were set so that all outstanding work could be completed. Once the deadline has passed, in-depth preparation will then begin so that the presentation can be constructed. Therefore, the reason for the preliminary deadline, which has been agreed as 27th March 2012, is so that this allows all group members to be fully comfortable with all material that will be presented in the final presentation.

3) Also in this meeting it was addressed how important it is to ensure that all work is completed and completed to a high, academic standard. It was stressed how important it is that once all work is completed, it is immediately transferred to the Facebook page so that it can be uploaded onto the research archive.

4) Tasks that need to be completed for next week were also delegated:

Justina Cordis:
Continue reading ‘the Politics and Poetics of Transgression’ by Stallybrass and White, as well as reading on Victor Turner and his concept of liminality. Also, upload the Venice review onto the research archive following further theoretical justification.
Ryan Powell:
Continue reading ‘the Politics and Poetics of Transgression’, this time focusing on the grotesque body chapter and produce a literature review of this chapter. Also, continue reading Chris Rojek ‘Decentring Leisure’ and use the theory and adapt it to the Venice review.
Aivarus Zujus:
To produce a substantial review of the various derives conducted in Venice, as well as incorporating the relevant theory into the reflection of the field research. Begin reading Umberto Eco’s book ‘Carnival’, producing a coherent literature review.
Pria Jandu:
Continue reading the book ‘Grotesque Body in Art and Literature’ and adapt the work of            Victor Turner to the media representations that have been analyzed. Also continue reading ‘the Politics and Poetics of Transgression’.
Poonam Cham:
Consolidate the previous work produced on Habitus and Hexis and produce an in-depth, academic and theoretical literature review of Pierre Bourdieu’s ‘Distinction’. Also, make a conscious effort to determine the relevance of this concept to the scope of the project.

The next meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday 21st March 2012 in library room 108 at 10AM.
